Bedrock Real Estate Services is proud to announce the unique and beautiful lighting in our First National Building is now an award-winning design! The long “swoosh” of light that greets visitors to 660 Woodward Avenue has been honored with the Edwin F. Guth Memorial Award for Interior Lighting Design with a special citation for innovative use of acrylics in lighting. Below is a photo of the award itself – and a write-up about what caught the attention of the judges.
Bedrock invests a great deal of time, effort, creativity and love in restoration and design efforts like this one, helping breathe new life into dozens of downtown Detroit’s world-class buildings. The First National Building was built in 1922, designed by famed architect Albert Kahn in the neoclassical style with an unusual “Z” configuration which maximizes natural light. The 25-story limestone office tower was purchased by Bedrock in August 2011 and transformed in spectacular fashion. Retailers in the building include Roasting Plant, Lunchtime Global, Subway, Hosiery with Style, Dressed in Detroit, Salon Detroit, Park Central, DeLaura’s Hallmark, and the Somerset Collection CITYLOFT pop-up shop with 40 retailers from Gucci to Gap (open Monday-Saturday from 10am to 7pm through December 23).
